Shah Rukh Khan wins ‘Kids’ Ikon of the Year’ award at Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards 2016

Shah Rukh Khan win ‘Kid’ Ikon of the Year’ award at Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards 2016

The year-end not just means the end of the year, but also the advent of many awards seasons. After the much talked about Star Screen awards took place, this time round, it was ‘Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards 2016’.

No prizes for guessing as to who won the ‘Kids’ Ikon of the Year’. It was none other than Bollywood’s eternal superstar Shah Rukh Khan! On the other hand, kids’ favourite pair was Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, who went to be voted as the ‘Best Pair’ (‘Kamaal Ki Jodi’ award) at the Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards. Salman Khan not just won the Best Actor (Male) award, but also his hit film Sultan won in the ‘Best Film’ category. On the other hand, the stunning Deepika Padukone won the Best Actress (Female) award.

Besides the aforementioned awards, the ‘Nickelodeon’s Kids Choice Awards 2016’ also witnessed the hunky Sidharth Malhotra and the gorgeous Katrina Kaif performing to their hit track ‘Kala Chashma’, which was apparently voted as the ‘Best Song’. While Tiger Shroff was voted as the ‘Dancing Star Of The Year’, Varun Dhawan bagged the ‘Best Entertainer Of The Year’ award.

Speaking about the awards, Alia Bhatt said that she was happy to be part of ‘Kid’s Choice Awards’, which was the only award show of its kind that were centred around kids and their choices. She added that the energy and the entertainment at the awards were intense and being surrounded and cheered by kids while performing was an unforgettable experience. On the other hand, Varun Dhawan said that he had performed at various award shows but ‘Kid’s Choice Awards’ would always hold a special place in his heart.

Here's the reason why Raees is so special to Shah Rukh Khan

Here's the reason why Raees is so special to Shah Rukh Khan

Shah Rukh Khan has never shied away from revealing his love for his family and the actor continues to talk about how his family has always strengthened and supported him throughout his ups and downs. The superstar has often confessed about how much he misses his parents and it seems that his love has found an outlet in the forthcoming venture Raees.

His next big Bollywood film Raees, which will finally release next year after much delay, will have Shah Rukh Khan dedicating something special to his parents. In fact, King Khan took to Twitter to share the news about the film’s connection with his parents, wherein he posted a rather pixelated picture of a poster with only a locket grabbing attention. He further tweeted, “New poster out tonight. This is my personal locket with my parents’ pic in it. #RaeesTrailerTomorrow.”

Earlier we had mentioned that the makers are planning a grand launch for Raees, wherein fans of the actor will get an opportunity to ask Shah Rukh Khan questions and the actor will interact with them across various cities via video conferencing.

Marking the debut of Pakistani actress Mahira Khan, Raees also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film has Shah Rukh Khan playing a bootlegger and is directed by Rahul Dholakia. It is slated to release on January 26.

Chitrangda Singh turns pop singer

Chitrangda Singh turns pop singer

It’s been a couple of years since we spotted the dusky actress Chitrangda Singh’s acting prowess on screen. While the last time we saw her she was grooving to the sultry number ‘Aao Raja’ in Gabbar Is Back, the role was nothing more than a special dance track. But now, we hear that the actress is all set to be back with a power packed performance.

Chitrangda Singh will apparently play the role of a pop singer in Girish Malik’s Band of Maharajas. The film is said to be a musical where she will be seen as the leading lady named Billo Mumtaz. She will also be dressing up as a singer which will include blingy jackets, leather pants as a part of her wardrobe. From what we hear Chitrangda has already started prepping for the role and has even been attending workshops for the same. In order to get into her role as a singer, the actress will also undergo musical training wherein she has been learning violin and drums.

The details of the rest of the cast are currently being kept under wraps. Band of Maharajas is slated to go on floor in Rajasthan’s Gaganagar and the second schedule will wrap up in Manali next year.

Prior to this, Chitrangda Singh was said to be playing the lead in the Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer Babumoshai Bandookbaaz but the actress decided to walk out of the film after she had a major showdown with the director of the film Kushan Nandy.

NEWSBREAK: Aamir Khan's Dangal gets an all clear 'U' certificate from CBFC

NEWSBREAK Aamir Khan's Dangal gets an all clear 'U' certificate from CBFC

Nitish Tiwari’s eagerly awaited film Dangal with Aamir Khan in the lead is about wrestling. But the director and his producer Aamir Khan didn’t have to wrestle one bit with the censor board to get the film certified.

On Tuesday afternoon Dangal was granted an all-clear ‘U’ certificate. This, in essence, means that not a single audio or visual cut was ordered.

A source from the Censor Board Of Film Certification says, “We didn’t even have to weigh any pros and cons. We were unanimous in our decision that it should get a ‘U’ certificate without cut. Dangal is about the empowerment of the girl child. Not only do we feel it should be seen by every man, woman and child we also feel it should be granted tax exemption so that more people would be able to watch it.”

With Dangal getting its censor certificate more than two weeks before release it’s got itself ample time for pre-release exposure.

Says a friend of Aamir Khan, “The film was complete in September. He is only waiting for December as Christmas is his chosen season of release. He began showing Dangal to friends from September. Now there will be plenty other trail shows and re-release screenings. Aamir is fully confident that Dangal will be a winner.”

Abhay Deol supports indie films

Abhay Deol supports indie films

He may not have followed the quintessential route like the other Deols and likes to carve his niche as an unconventional actor. Abhay Deol, who has done couple of out-of-the-box films, has now decided to take a step towards promoting indie films.

Abhay Deol decided to turn film curator for indie films. From what we hear the actor-producer has selected three films from the NFDC Film Bazaar to release them digitally. According to Abhay, these films are the strong voices in South Asia’s independent cinema. Revealing details about the films, Abhay stated that he saw Labor of Love at IFFLA (India Film Festival of Los Angeles) and his other picks included Payal Sethi’s Leeches and Brahmanand Singh’s Kaagaz Ki Kashti.

Talking about Singh’s film, Abhay added that the film is homage to Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh which was premiered at MAMI.

On the other hand, Abhay was all praises for director Vikram Sengupta who helmed Labor of Love and was appreciative of his aesthetic sensibilities and how he could create a story without dialogues. He was also mighty impressed by Leeches describing it as a compelling story on anathematic subject.

Abhay Deol also spoke about how economically viable digital release is for independent films and how it can help in curbing piracy if it is available on legitimate digital platforms.
